Dragon Meets Girl: Forgotten Dragons Book 2 Page 9

But instead of going into one of the spots, he dipped out of the main lot into a small side area between a few trees and onto something that looked like a makeshift cycling path. Past the tree line, he stopped at a little flat area, surrounded on all sides by trees except for a dazzling view of the city miles below.

He stopped, flicked the kickstand with his booted heel, and flipped the engine off with a switch. Then he helped Jan out of her seat and took her helmet, and Jan walked forward to see the city, looking so tiny below.

“The view is breathtaking.” She sighed.

“Yeah, this is one of my special spots,” Xander replied calmly.

“There’s more than one?” she asked, looking up at him. His leather jacket was unzipped, showing fantastic pecs and a blue graphic tee. Damn, she loved his muscles.

But she also loved his kindness. His patience. The intensity he showed when he held her close.

Sometimes it felt like she was living a fairy tale.

“Well, naturally,” he said with a grin, “What’s the point of exploring if you don’t find places to share with someone special? But I’ll show you the others soon enough.” His arm wrapped around her midsection, pulling her into him, and he exhaled a peaceful breath.

She wanted to ask him if he’d brought anyone else there, but then she realized with stark clarity that it didn’t matter.

He was there with her now. That was all she needed to know.

“I can’t wait to see them,” she said simply, relaxing into the moment.

It felt so foreign to be so infatuated—no, falling for someone she’d only known for a matter of weeks.

There hadn’t been room for any man in Janet’s life. That was until Xander had come along and made it impossible to not want to break down walls and barriers so she could just live for the first time in forever.

But the more time she spent with him, the more she was realizing that Xander wanted to know everything about her but never wanted to talk about himself.

Didn’t he know she also wanted to know more about him?

Aside from the fact that he had a twin who dabbled in art collecting and that the two of them had made their money in investments, Xander had been loath to give up information about his past.

He’d smile vaguely, wave, and distract her with kisses, turning away with something distant in his eyes.

  Something that worried her.

“So do you come here often?” she asked.

His eyes shuttered as he looked over the cityscape, seemingly lost in thought. “I used to, but even this wasn’t enough of a distraction after a while.”

  “Distraction from what?”

He ran a hand through his hair, which was waving in the early evening wind. “Life. Loneliness. I know I haven’t told you a lot about me, but Tristan and I have been alone for a long time. I think you should know that.”

  “Alone? What about your family?”

His face remained carefully blank. “Tristan is my family. And Kelsie now.” He squeezed her a little tighter. “And you know, I hope to have even more family soon.”

She didn’t know how to take that. Didn’t want to jump to conclusions and end up hurt. It felt like things would be okay if she just lived in the moment.

“So you don’t talk to your parents?”

“No,” he said quickly, and she could hear the anger in his tone.

“Can I ask why? Is that off-limits?”

“They abandoned us,” Xander said. “Tristan and I grew up parentless.”

  “In the system?”

“Sort of,” he said flatly. “I’d rather not talk about that part.”

She swallowed, her heart going out to the little boy he must have been. All alone. How was he so cheerful?

“But it wasn’t all bad,” he said. “Being alone taught me to appreciate things like this. To find places that filled my heart. And I imagined bringing someone here, and that gave me hope.”

Her heart was so warm it was burning. “I’m your hope?”

“You’re my hope,” he said, pulling her even tighter against him, making her feel safe from the entire world.

It was mind-boggling. “We haven’t known each other long—”

“It’s not about time. It’s about connection,” he said quickly. “Have you ever felt this way about someone else?”

  She shook her head.

“Neither have I. And I’ve been waiting so many years to feel something. When I saw you, I just knew.”

  She gulped. “Knew what?”

“That I wanted to be with you,” he said. “I can’t really explain it better than that.”

And she was having so much fun with Xander and living life so fully that she understood.

She sighed. “I’m glad you brought me here. And that I’m special. I was really wrong when I thought you were a player, wasn’t I?”

He rested his chin on her head. “I mean, I see why you thought that. I did come on strong. And I do tend to be flirtatious. It’s my way of avoiding conflict while still keeping people at a distance.”

“But why at a distance?” Janet said. “When Kelsie went to stay with you, she told me you guys live in a renovated warehouse. That’s pretty far from most people, especially for someone as social as you.”

“I’m not that social,” he said stubbornly.

“I heard you were always at some club every night.”

“To see people. To be with people. But I couldn’t connect with anyone. I just liked the feeling of not being alone.”

It just didn’t make sense to Janet how this wonderful man could be alone when so many women wanted him.

But then it was clear he had been waiting for something specific, and if he’d found it with Janet, she wasn’t going to complain.

“I’m glad you’re not alone now,” she said.

“Me too.” He sighed. “And as for why I don’t live downtown, Tristan and I have always lived outside the normal lines. For reasons.”

  She raised an eyebrow. “Reasons?”

“Things I can’t go into for now. I promise nothing illegal.”

She bit her lower lip. “Okay.

“So what about you, Miss Designated Driver?” he asked. “Why did you like going to clubs so much when you only wanted to be alone?”

She knew he was just changing the subject, but it was fine with her. She’d gotten enough out of him to feel more assured for now. “I guess I’m like you. I do like being around people, even if I never knew how to get close to them.”

“I understand that,” Xander said softly.

  “What about your family?”

Now that, she didn’t want to talk about. “My dad is out of the picture. My mom lives in a home near my sister. I guess I felt like I had served my time with her growing up.”

  “Served time?”

She frowned. “My mother wasn’t well when I was younger. I was forced into a parental role. I think that’s still where I’m comfortable a lot of the time.” She shrugged. “Why I take care of everyone.”

“But not with me,” he said, pressing a kiss to her temple. “I take care of you.”

“We take care of each other,” she said stubbornly, grinning. “And yes, it’s different than it has ever been for me.”

“I’m glad,” he said. “And I’m sorry things were difficult. But no more. Captain Xander to the rescue.”

  “Indeed,” she said, amused.

He turned so he was facing her, wrapping both arms around her so he could pull her into his chest as a cool, richly scented fall breeze blew by them.

“And I’ll always be here for you, Janet,” he said softly.

Beneath the cool, spicy fall breeze, Janet could make out the rain and pine scent of Xander, scintillating her senses as she buried her face in his chest.

“I’ve been thinking, Jan…” Xander’s rumbling voice in his chest made a familiar sensation shoot down her neck and back, and she looked up at him, already feeling heated from his
proximity.

  “What?”

“I’ve been thinking about us. About you and me. I’ve been open from the start that I only want you. But we never said where things are going. I want you to know I’m thinking of this as a road I never want to turn off of. I want to get to the end of it with you.”

  “You mean…”

“We don’t need to rush,” he said. “But I wanted you to know it’s not some fling for me. Even an exclusive one. I’m thinking of the future. I wanted to know if you were too.”

She blinked. “I mean, I try not to think about the future because I’m an anxious person and I tend to imagine things going bad. I think it’s best to live in the moment when doing things that push you.”

  “It’s fine. There’s no pressure—”

“But I have to say I’m not the type who would do this with someone if I thought we couldn’t have a future. The thought of it scares me because I’m from a broken home, and I don’t even know what a happy ending looks like. But I do hope for one, if that’s what you’re asking.”

“Good enough,” he said, placing a kiss on the top of her head. “As long as you’re not planning to dump me.”

  She giggled. “Of course not.”

“Good, because it took time to chase you down, Janet. I don’t intend to let go easily.”

And somehow, more than any others, those words made her heart feel safe.

He wouldn’t just walk out on her.

They could continue to enjoy each other and just see where things went.

The future. For the first time, it was exciting.

“Phew,” he said, keeping his arms wrapped around her. “I’m glad we talked about it. I’ve been nervous.”

She looked up at him, a confused smile on her face. “Why did you think I would just suddenly reject you?”

“I don’t know,” he said playfully. “Maybe because at the start, you pushed me away at every turn. I thought you were commitment-phobic or something.”

She snorted. “I thought you were commitment-phobic. And most men, to be honest. But how was I supposed to know the hot playboy was actually a closeted romantic?”

He pulled slightly back from her, and his finger was on her chin, tilting her up to meet his gaze.

“I love it when you call me hot.” His smug grin made Jan want to melt right there on the spot.

“Well… it’s the truth,” she said, looking shyly up at him. She could lose herself in those blue depths, so much bluer than the bluest sky.

“Then I’ll give you the truth also,” he said.

Before she could reply, his lips covered her mouth in a possessive, dominant kiss, and she relaxed into the feel of his hot skin on her lips. For several moments, they held it, letting the breeze shake the trees around them, enjoying the silence of the moment.

But she wanted more. Needed more.

  Needed him.

Jan parted her lips, and his tongue thrust in to meet her, the sensation familiar and arousing. His touch felt like home, but in the hottest way possible.

She was wet, aching, aroused by his words and his body and the cool air and nature all around them.

She was ready to collide with the man she now knew she loved.

Xander’s hands moved down her back to grip her butt, lifting her off the ground like she was lighter than a feather.

Instinctively, she wrapped her legs around him, grinding into Xander as the loving, intense kiss from before transformed into something hotter.

He was voracious now, his tongue slowly fucking her mouth in such an erotic way she didn’t know how she didn’t melt right there.

He kept holding her as he walked back to his bike, placing a searing kiss on her ear, then her neck.

“I wish we could just blink and be home,” she said, looking at the scratchy ground and gravel of the turnoff. “I don’t want to wait.”

His bike was parked in the shadows, hidden from the road, though she hadn’t heard any vehicles in this remote area.

“Who said anything about waiting?” Xander’s voice was like a sensual promise tickling her ears, and her entire body perked up at his words.

Still holding her in his arms, he threw one leg over the low-seated, wide motorcycle, then sat down on it.

Oh my God, was all Janet could think as she realized what he intended to do.

  Chapter 15

Janet straddled Xander’s thighs while her back rested comfortably against the gleaming black tank.

Somehow, he managed to keep hold of her while keeping his feet on the ground, balancing the extremely heavy bike.

She’d noticed that Xander was unusually strong, but this was something else.

She gaped at him, hot and wet at the forbidden nature of what they were doing. “You aren’t going to—”

“Not if you don’t want me to,” he said, blue eyes burning down at her. “You’re safe with me, Janet. I promise. Always safe.”

She looked at the road, barely able to see it through the trees. “I’m okay with it. But if someone comes.”

His expression grew hard. “No one sees you but me, and if you decide you don’t like anything, I’ll stop.”

“Okay.” She gasped, knowing it was probably beyond her power to stop him. She was so hungry for him now.

“So hot.” His whisper in her ear tickled just as his tongue licked up her ear, making her entire body shudder. Her pussy was so ready, so desperate for him.

“Xander.” Jan’s voice was husky, sexual in a way she didn’t know she could be until Xander appeared like so much magic in her life. As he dipped one hand between them, his other hand cupped the small of her back, supporting her.

She gasped as his hand deftly undid her button and slipped into her leggings. His fingers caressed her cleft over her underwear, rubbing her clit expertly with quick motions that made the tightness in her body rise shockingly fast.

“Fuck, you’re so wet, Jan. So ready.” His mouth nipped at her ear even as he wickedly caressed her sex again and again.

“Then don’t make me wait,” she said breathlessly, already close to the edge.

Damn, it was fast with him. Like he got better at knowing how to please her every time he was with her.

Like she was a masterclass in sex and he was passing with flying colors.

Xander pulled his hand away, leaving her aching for more, her body flushed and embarrassed by their position and turned on at the same time.

She felt wild at the thought of riding him.

He unzipped his pants, and his hard member sprang free, ready and gorgeous and waiting. He handed her a condom with his free hand, and she opened it and slid it over him, marveling at how tight it was.

Then he moved her pants down, gently moving aside her underwear.

He kept her pants just low enough that they could join and moved in closer, holding her with his hands as he settled them into the right spot.

“It’s going to be a little awkward, but I think once we start, neither of us will mind it.”

She shook her head. “Not awkward. So freaking hot.”

He grinned, teasing her entrance with his hard cock, keeping her squirming against his lap. “Just remember you’re mine now. Only I can do this with you. I’ll kill anyone who tries it.”

She blinked up at him, touched and stunned by his protectiveness. “Yes. Yours.”

His nearly glowing blue eyes darkened with lust as his gaze roved over her body, then back to meet her face. “Mine, always.”

“Yes,” she said desperately, squirming wetly against his length, already anticipating how good it would feel when he came inside.

She was wanton, aroused, unable to wait any longer.

With a slight jerk to pull her pants lower and out of their way, he drove into her with a firm, mind-blowing thrust, filling her to the utter brim with pleasure. She was in such a tight space and so trapped against Xander that her G-spot felt stimulated without him even moving.

  And when he moved

  God, it was heaven.

Each thrust made her feel alight with pleasure so strong she could barely stand it, her entire body filled with his touch.

She came faster than she meant to, but before she could cry out, Xander’s mouth covered hers, claiming and muffling her screams as scorching pleasure ripped through her from head to toe. Her legs wrapped around him, holding on tight as his sheer thickness pushed her deeper and deeper into her own release.

She’d only barely come down, though, when Xander growled possessively, eyes locked on her as he started to move again. And with the way his hands squeezed her ass, supporting Janet and pressing their bodies even closer together, each thrust only felt more pleasurable, more incredibly filling as he sheathed himself with inconceivable force into her.

God, she wasn’t going to last long.

Leaves in nearby trees shuddered from a breeze overhead as Jan’s whole body shuddered from the rocking motions of their bodies as they met and retracted with indelible speed. The motorcycle bobbed back and forth slightly as Xander’s weight shifted, but he kept everything upright, not losing balanced as he pounded into her, stimulating her sensitive, internal spot over and over with his cock.

She looked up and saw Xander’s expression tightening, the muscles in his forearms bulging as he continued to move for her pleasure. And as badly as her body begged her to go over the edge, Janet held on, wanting to join her lover in the throes of release.

Lover. That has a nice ring to it—

Janet’s thoughts were interrupted as exciting, fire-hot sensations overtook her senses, and she came again. Only this time, Xander’s shaft thrust in to meet her one last time, making her back arch against her will as the most filling, pleasurable orgasm claimed her body and soul.

A millisecond later, Xander came too, his whole body tightening in a way that only made him sexier as he lost control.

Deep inside, his cock throbbed and pulsed, pushing Janet deeper into the release, even while he still managed to somehow hold her close without losing balance for a second.
